The chased, anticlastic collar that was the centrepiece of my Immaculate exhibition started off like this
I stuck a long thin strip of Argentium silver onto a bowl full of pitch (to support it and hold it in place), then used a small punch and chasing hammer to put the decorative lines onto the surface.
Next I took the strip off the pitch, and used a mallet and an anticlastic raising stake to form the piece. You can see the finished collar on the page about my Argentium exhibition above.
Hi Annette just aa fw comments which you can of course take or leave. Seems to me that unless this is aimed purely at silversmiths.. Please explain anticlastic and how you made the pattern and what with and what its stuck too. The differences between argentum versus silver and what that means practically. I’m curious! Xx
Hi Michelle, if you look at the ‘About’ page there is an explanation of what Argentium is, and how I came to start this blog. I will add more posts explaining how the pieces are made, I’m still getting used to blogging :-). Thank you for the comments, keep them coming!
